We have used this Amazon outdoor patio heater for over 2 years and it is still going strong. It is a strong contender compared to the other ones we have tested and used – made of durable steel, the parts and hardware are of good quality, is a sturdy product, has a strong adjustable heat output which is adjustable, and is definitely well worth the price. It also looks amazing!
We love that it comes in a pretty large selection of finishes and colors to suit your style and compliment your outdoor space – you can choose from stainless steel, slate-grey, wicker, and even bahama blue! Asides from the stainless steel and wicker patio heaters, the other colors feature a powder coating that helps protect the heater from rust and damaging outdoor elements.

Although it is labelled as a ‘commercial’ patio heater, it is great for home use as well – a commercial grade patio heater needs to be strong enough to heat large areas, and it’s nice to have that option. If you don’t need such a strong heat output, you can simply adjust the heat dial by turning it which limits the propane output. It also doesn’t hurt that the burners, dials, tubing and tank connector are all up to code and are of commercial-grade quality.
Assembly
The Amazon patio heater came very well packaged, the nuts and bolts were all labelled and separated in a blister pack, which made all the parts visible and easy to identify. They supply a ‘toy’ wrench, but you won’t be able to fully tighten the bolts using it, so we definitely recommend that you use real wrenches and sockets to put it together. This was pretty quick to assemble, it took about 30-40 minutes for 1 person to put it together.
Looking through the reviews on Amazon, we noticed that many people were having problems with the instructions; but, if you have assembled it correctly, you will not have any problems. We’ve detailed the assembly instruction adjustments below if you’re interested.
Ignition & Heat
With the simple start-up Piezo ignition system, this Amazon patio heater is super easy to turn on, all it takes is a push of a button! You can adjust the heat from high to low with the variable-heat control knob. For safety and peace of mind, the patio heater also features an auto shut-off tilt valve that shuts the heater off automatically if it accidentally gets tipped over.
This heavy-duty patio heater pumps out a lot of heat with a heat output of 46,000 BTUs. We love that this can heat up a large area, with a range of up to 18 feet in diameter depending on how cold or windy it is.
Features & Warranty
This Amazon patio heater stands up at 7 ft tall 18 x 89 inches (L x H), and comes with a standard 1 year warranty. We haven’t had any issues with this heater yet, but Amazon is pretty good with their customer service, so just keep the box until you assemble it and turn it on.
I don’t think anyone finds it fun dragging around a patio heater around without wheels, thankfully this one does come with wheels included, which makes it super easy for one person to roll around, from the patio to the pool or to the outdoor shed for storage.
The base is pretty sturdy on it’s own, and you can fill it with sand or water for extra security. As we mentioned earlier, it also comes in a wide range of colors and finishes, so you can find one that best suits your style.
The Verdict
So far, we have absolutely no complaints about the Amazon patio heater. It looks great, is made of good quality steel, it has held up very well against the elements for over 2 years, and still looks like new! We all love huddling near the patio heater and the heat output is strong, great for 8-10 people, of course depending on how cold and windy it is. It’s a nice alternative to a fire pit, the gas patio heater delivers consistent heat – with no smoke or open flames to worry about.
At this price point, you will not find a better patio heater out there!
Accessories
We strongly recommend buying a cover for your patio heater – it’s a small price to pay, but it’ll keep it looking like new, protect it from the elements, and also extend the lifetime of your heater, saving you more money in the long run.
Ps. Here are some helpful tips for assembly (like most user manual instructions, the ones that come with this one are just ok), so we’ve added a few suggestions to the steps to make assembly even easier and clearer:
Step 1: You do not need to remove the 4 screws. Just remove the center cap and fill this with sand or water. This helps to weigh down the heater to make it less prone to tipping during strong winds.
Step 3: Do not tighten the 3 base bolts until you complete Step 4 (leave finger tight).
Step 4: After completing this step, follow Step 3 and tighten the base bolts.
Step 8: The four small bolts and lock washers are already together in the shrink pack, they are not in the head assembly. Use a washer with all four head bolts and add a washer from the shrink pack to each of the 4 bolts; so, each will have a bolt, followed by a lock washer, followed by a regular washer.
*Before Step 9 (this is missing in the instructions): thread the gas hose through the lower pipe and screw the two pipes together.
*Before Step 12 (this is also missing in the instructions): Connect the gas regulator valve to the gas hose. Make sure you use two wrenches, and tighten the hose bolt tightly to the regular (do not rely on using the ‘toy’ wrench that it comes with).
Note: The lighting instructions are a bit off. You need to turn the dial halfway between the OFF and HIGH markers. In this position you can press the black dial all the way in. While holding it all the way in, press the ignition button once or twice at the same time, then the flame will start. Hold the black dial in for 20 to 30 seconds to heat the thermocouple which is required to keep it running on its own. After 20 to 30 seconds release the black dial and now turn it to the desired temp between HIGH and LOW.
Tip: If you’re having a hard time peeling off the protective blue film, use a hairdryer to warm it up and it will peel off easily.
